Clear Blue Skies Team send aid to African Charities
For several years now, the staff and partners at Tenerife Estate Agency, Clear Blue Skies Group, have worked with various charities sending funds to children in Africa. This year, they have decided to split the contribution between Save the Children and Children in Watamu, a children's charity operating in Kenya.
Suzie Perry, Sales Manager at Clear Blue, continues the story, "we raise money from a number of areas including Paul and Danny running a half marathon in Las Galletas and money raised from raffles and auctions at our annual party, and this money, 4000 euros, we gave to Save the Children to help their works in Africa. We also allocate money each time the business sells a property, and we decided this year to send this money, 3450 euros, to the charity of one of our clients, Sue Hayward. The charity is called Children of Watamu (www.childrenofwatamu.net) and has already built 3 schools in eastern Kenya, and our funds will go to kit out a medical centre in the orphanage they are building. Clear Blue have accepted a challenge to raise 10,000 euros to buy a minibus for the Children of Watamu before 4th July 2010, and we would welcome any suggestions of ways of raising money."
Update May 2010
Clear Blue Skies once again were able to make a contribution of nearly 4000 euros, thanks to the sterling efforts of Paul and Danny (pictured) who suffered extreme temperatures to complete the 2010 Las Galletas Half Marathon, and this was sent by our friends at Rational FX to The Children of Watamu. Thank you to all of our clients and friends, for your kind generosity, I hope you all received your commemorative tee shirts.
Clear Blue Skies have responded to a request for help by Sue Hayward of The Children of Watamu to provide financial assistance for the purchase of a bus to transport the children to and from the school.
Every time we make a sale of a property, 100 euros is set aside for The Children of Watamu, and we have accumulated 4400 euros since we last made a donation from this fund. Rational FX have confirmed today that they have sent the money, in Kenyan Shillings on 1st June 2010. The picture shows the current mode of transport which is both dangerous and impractical. Sue hopes to have the bus before the end of June so we will update this part of our website then. Just finally to say thanks to our staff, who not only helped with the Las Galletas appeal, but agreed for some of the money on which their earnings are calculated to be given to this charity. Credit to them in these still difficult times.
